Matt Todd

Matt Todd now works for github.com in San Francisco. We love github!

A self-taught pragmatic developer and Ruby enthusiast, Matt is also an established voice on the speaking circuit. He has spoken at numerous conferences, including RubyFringe in Toronto, Canada, MerbCamp in San Diego, California, and MerbDay Atlanta. He presents regularly to the Atlanta Ruby User Group.

Matt's passionately driven by Open Source software, contributing to them and improving their community. He has contributed to projects like Rack, Thin, and Merb, and has led development on several projects, including Halycon, GeoIP, and a myriad of small but useful libraries.

For Highgroove, Matt serves as an Open Source Software Architect — helping Highgroove take full advantage of the very best tools by creating and sharing libraries, plugins, and reusable code, while nurturing and supporting the communities around them. He closely scrutinizes the quality of code, thoroughness of tests, and documentation to find a good fit for our clients and ensure projects are using the right tools to solve problems.

When not in the office, Matt can be found riding around the streets of Atlanta on any number of bicycles, going to local music shows, or making music with his band.

In his past life, Matt ran his own successful photography business and has been building web applications for nearly a decade. He's won awards and scholarships, donated development efforts, and constantly contributes back to communities he participates in with his time, energy, and expertise.

Everyone calls Matt Todd by his full name: Matt Todd.
